Construction work on the Prague Ring Road will cause disruptions to regional rail services from Sunday until early November. Some S9 services will be cancelled on certain sections, and passengers should also expect delays.
Rail passengers in the south-east of Prague will need to prepare for timetable changes in the coming weeks. Between Praha-Uhříněves and Říčany, trains operated by Czech Railways (České dráhy) will have only one track available from 11 October to 3 November 2026. Regional trains on line S9 will be particularly affected.
The disruptions are caused by construction work related to the Prague Ring Road near Říčany. Around a year ago, rail traffic in this area was diverted onto a temporary track alignment. The Czech railway infrastructure authority, Správa železnic, is now returning the tracks to their original route.
Disruptions on Line S9
On weekdays from 12 October to 3 November, most regional trains on line S9 between Prague and Říčany or Strančice will operate only as far as Praha-Uhříněves. The affected services will start and terminate there.
Exceptions include some late-evening trains, which will continue to operate according to the regular timetable. Direct S9 services between Prague and Benešov u Prahy will also remain unaffected by the shortened routes.

To compensate for the cancellation of some regional trains, express trains on line R49 Sázava will make additional stops at Strančice and Praha-Kolovraty during peak hours. This applies to morning services towards Prague and afternoon trains travelling in the opposite direction. These trains will also be strengthened with an additional carriage.
The morning express trains R 732, R 730 and R 728 will also make unscheduled stops at Říčany. The stops are scheduled for 6:52 am, 7:52 am and 8:52 am.
Replacement Buses Between Háje and Říčany
Czech Railways will also introduce a replacement bus service on weekdays from 12 October to 3 November. Line XS9 will operate daily between approximately 5:15 am and 9:15 pm along the following route:
Háje (Metro C) – Sídliště Petrovice – Nádraží Uhříněves – Tehovičky – Škola Kolovraty – Říčany, Masarykovo náměstí – Říčany, nádraží.
Buses will also operate in the opposite direction. Tickets issued by Czech Railways (ČD), the Prague Integrated Transport system (PID) and OneTicket will be valid on the replacement buses.
Delays of Up to Ten Minutes Possible
In addition to the timetable changes, passengers should expect delays during the construction work. According to České dráhy, journey times between Praha-Uhříněves and Říčany may increase by around five to ten minutes.
Passengers are advised to check current connections and the special timetables in force during the construction work before travelling.
