At the end of November, the grounds of Holešovická tržnice will be transformed into an Advent market featuring regional products, winter specialities and a varied programme for visitors of all ages.

Anyone wishing to escape the hustle and bustle of the large Christmas markets during the festive season will find a quieter alternative at the Prague Market in Holešovice. From 26 November to 22 December 2026, Holešovická tržnice in Prague 7 will host its traditional Advent programme. Alongside market stalls selling handmade gifts and culinary treats, the programme includes an open-air winter cinema and numerous activities for children.

Christmas Market with Regional Products and Gift Ideas

The heart of the Advent market will be the small square in front of Hall 22. Selected traders will offer handmade products, designer items, books, arts and crafts, and culinary gift ideas. As the exhibitors will change throughout the Advent season, there should always be something new to discover, even on return visits.

Mulled wine, hot apple cider, roasted chestnuts and other winter specialities from the Food Truck Point will provide plenty of festive refreshments. Christmas lights and festive decorations will create a cosy atmosphere.

The Christmas market will be open from Tuesday to Friday, from 2 pm to 9 pm, and at weekends from 10 am to 5 pm. The market will be closed on Mondays.

Open-Air Winter Cinema

One of the highlights of the Advent programme is the winter cinema, "Svařák & film" (Mulled Wine & Film). Every Thursday during Advent, visitors can watch films outdoors, wrap themselves in blankets and enjoy the evening with a hot drink.

The first screening will take place on 26 November, the opening day of the Christmas market. The programme will feature Christmas classics and romantic films. The exact film titles will be announced on the market's website and social media channels.

Christmas Programme for Children

Holešovická tržnice also offers numerous activities for families with children. This year's popular activity trail is themed "Christmas Journey Around the World" (Vánoční cesta kolem světa). Along the route, children will learn about Christmas traditions from different countries. Participation costs 100 crowns per child.

There will also be an interactive Advent calendar, with its doors opened one by one throughout the run-up to Christmas. At the Christmas post office, children can also send their wishes to Baby Jesus.

Hall 22 will once again display the "Holešovický betlém" nativity scene by artist Iva Langrová. The Christmas village, made from felt, will gain another figure this year, inspired by life on the market grounds.

Culinary Events and a Visit from St Nicholas

On the first Sunday of Advent, 29 November, the programme will feature "Den řezníků" (Butchers' Day). The event focuses on traditional craftsmanship, high-quality meat products and Czech cuisine. According to the organiser, it was one of the most popular events held at the market last year.

A St Nicholas event is also planned for families in the courtyard between Halls 27 and 28. St Nicholas, an angel and a devil are expected to make an appearance. Visitors will also be able to grill sausages from Naše maso over an open fire.
