A genuine rugby highlight is approaching: on Wednesday, 18 June, the RC Tatra Smíchov pitch will be transformed into a venue for top-level international sport. Starting at 6 p.m., the Czech national rugby team will face off against the New Zealand Ambassador’s XV — a squad of professional players active in European leagues such as Italy, France and the Netherlands, supplemented by players from New Zealand and Australia.
The annual fixture between the Czech team and the New Zealand Ambassador’s XV (Facebook) has long been a tradition. The New Zealanders not only bring their skills to the field but also thrill the crowd with the famous haka — a traditional Māori dance symbolising courage and strength. The hosts have welcomed the New Zealand team to Prague seven times already, with each occasion showcasing top-quality rugby.

The Tatra Smíchov Rugby Club, which celebrated its 65th anniversary in 2023, together with the Czech Rugby Union, cordially invites sports fans, families and everyone else to cheer on the Czech team and be part of this special evening.
