The Petrossian Theatre Dance Company brings its acclaimed production Once Again: Aznavour to Prague this July, offering audiences a moving and visually stunning tribute to the legendary French-Armenian artist Charles Aznavour.
This theatrical ballet show, directed and choreographed by Narine Petrossian, revisits the celebrated production that captivated audiences with its striking visual language and emotional depth. Told entirely through dance, the performance transcends linguistic boundaries, making it accessible to all, regardless of language or background.
Structured in two acts, the show traces Aznavour’s remarkable life and artistic journey. Act I delves into his formative years — a story of ambition, perseverance, and the early influences that shaped him. Audiences will recognise iconic figures such as Edith Piaf, Frank Sinatra, Liza Minnelli, Fred Astaire, and Pierre Roche, all of whom played a role in his personal and artistic development.
Act II shifts focus to the height of Aznavour’s fame, offering a nuanced portrait of a man reflecting on a life filled with triumphs and trials. One of the most poignant moments comes with a powerful interpretation of Yesterday, When I Was Young, a deeply emotional piece that encapsulates the nostalgia and introspection of an artist looking back.
The production features Aznavour’s music performed in a rich array of languages — French, English, Armenian, Italian, Spanish and Russian — paying homage to the singer’s global reach and multicultural heritage.
Once Again: Aznavour is more than a biography in motion; it is a celebration of artistic legacy, human resilience, and the universal language of music and movement.
