European HIV and Hepatitis Testing Week 2025: Free Tests across the Czech Republic

People in all 14 regions of the country can get tested anonymously and free of charge at a total of 97 testing sites

In the Czech Republic, the European HIV and Hepatitis Testing Week begins on Tuesday. Across all regions of the country, a total of 97 locations are available where people can undergo anonymous and free testing.

On Tuesday, 18 November, the European HIV and Hepatitis Testing Week will start in the Czech Republic. The nationwide campaign, which runs until 24 November, aims to highlight the importance of early diagnosis and to help reduce prejudice associated with HIV. Across all 14 regions, a total of 97 fixed and mobile testing stations are available. Interested individuals can be tested free of charge and discuss any questions directly with specialists.

The testing week is coordinated by the State Health Institute (SZÚ), with financial support from the Ministry of Health.

“We want to emphasise that absolutely everyone can come – regardless of age, gender or background. The HIV tests are anonymous, and the results are provided only by a personal code. In addition to HIV, we also test for Hepatitis B and C, and for syphilis if needed. Early diagnosis significantly improves quality of life and allows immediate treatment in one of the ten specialised centres in the event of an HIV infection,” explains the Chief Medical Officer and Director of the SZÚ, MUDr. Barbora Macková, MHA.

A complete overview of all testing sites with up-to-date opening hours can be found on tadyted.com. The site also offers basic information on HIV and sexually transmitted infections in ten language versions.

In 2024, 2,220 people – both Czechs and foreigners – made use of the free testing service. Four of them were able to begin life-improving HIV therapy immediately. Eight people were newly enrolled in treatment for Hepatitis B, and five began therapy for syphilis. In 29 further cases, additional diagnostics related to Hepatitis C were initiated.

According to estimates, around 600 people in the Czech Republic currently do not know they are living with HIV – and are missing the opportunity for timely treatment. Anyone wishing to get information or take a test can find all regional testing centres at www.tadyted.com.
