The draw for the main round of the Champions League has produced some exciting fixtures for Sparta Prague. On Wednesday, 18 September at 18:45, Sparta will kick off this year’s Champions League season with a home match against FC Red Bull Salzburg. Tickets go on sale on Monday, 9 September at 12:00 noon, initially exclusively for season ticket holders.
When the two teams meet at Letná in Prague on 18 September, it will not be their first encounter in European football. They previously met in the second qualifying round of the Champions League during the 1997/98 season, when Salzburg was known as Austria Salzburg. After a 0-0 draw in Salzburg, Sparta won the second leg 3-0 at home. Sparta then advanced to the Champions League group stage and faced Borussia Dortmund, among others.
