A new central charging zone for electric vehicles is being built at Prague Airport. With a total of 17 charging points, the airport is responding to the growing demand for fast-charging facilities and continuing to invest in the expansion of its e-mobility infrastructure.
Prague Airport is continuing to expand its infrastructure for electric mobility. Following the granting of the final building permit, a central charging zone for electric vehicles is set to be built in the immediate vicinity of the PC COMFORT car park.
A new charging zone with a total of 17 charging points is planned. These will in future be available to the public, taxi companies, car rental firms and airport employees alike. According to the airport, the project is a response to the growing demand for charging facilities for electric vehicles.

The new charging hub will be built on an existing parking area next to the PC COMFORT car park. Construction work is expected to take around nine months. The plans include a fast-charging infrastructure with a total installed capacity of 1.6 megawatts. Depending on the vehicle type, electric cars are expected to be almost fully charged within around 15 minutes.
The individual charging points will operate via charging stations with cable systems drawing power from central power cabinets. These distribute the available energy dynamically between the individual charging points according to current demand.

Part of the energy required in future is set to come from renewable sources. Last year, a photovoltaic system with a capacity of 1.4 MWp was already installed on the roof of the PC COMFORT car park.
Access to the charging centre will be regulated via a barrier system. This is intended to ensure that the area is used exclusively by vehicles actually coming to charge. In addition, reserved parking spaces for the contracted taxi service, rest areas for drivers and separate facilities for other users of the charging infrastructure are planned.
