The Wings for Life World Run will begin worldwide on Sunday. Thousands of participants in the Czech Republic will also start at the same time to support research into spinal cord injuries. The special feature: there is no traditional finish line in this charity run.
The 13th edition of the international charity event Wings for Life World Run will take place on Sunday, 10 May 2026. People around the world will start simultaneously in support of research into spinal cord injuries. Once again, numerous runners in the Czech Republic will take part in the event.
The Wings for Life World Run differs significantly from traditional running events: instead of a fixed finish line, participants are pursued by a so-called Catcher Car. This vehicle starts 30 minutes after the race begins and gradually increases its speed. Once a runner is overtaken by the car, their personal race comes to an end.
This unique concept allows both professional athletes and recreational runners to take part. Everyone completes exactly the distance they are individually capable of.

Another characteristic of the event is the simultaneous global start. Regardless of time zones, races on all continents begin at the same time. In the Czech Republic, the starting signal will be given at 1 pm.
More than 310,000 people around the world took part in last year’s event. More than €8.6 million was raised for spinal cord injury research. The entry fee for this year’s edition is €18. As in previous years, all proceeds will go entirely towards research projects run by the Wings for Life Foundation.

In addition to the official events, participants can also join individually via the Wings for Life World Run mobile app. The application allows users to choose their own route while still taking part in the global race.
The Wings for Life World Run is open to everyone, regardless of age or ability level. The motto for 2026 also remains unchanged: running for those who cannot.
