The decision following the abandoned Prague derby has been made: Slavia Prague have retrospectively lost the match against Sparta Prague 0-3. In addition, the disciplinary commission imposed a record fine as well as four home matches behind closed doors. Sparta were also sanctioned.

The league’s disciplinary commission (LFA) officially awarded Saturday’s abandoned derby between SK Slavia Praha and AC Sparta Praha as a 3-0 win for Sparta. The reason was the serious disturbances at the Eden stadium after Slavia supporters stormed the pitch and attacked several visiting players.

At the time the match was abandoned, Slavia had been leading 3-2. However, the game was ended prematurely after security forces were no longer able to bring the situation under control.

In addition to the defeat by default, Slavia received a fine of ten million crowns – the maximum possible punishment under the regulations. The club must also play its next four home matches without spectators.

Despite the sanctions, Slavia remain top of the league table, although their lead over Sparta has now been reduced to just five points, with three games left to play.

Sparta Prague were also punished by the disciplinary commission. The club must pay 600,000 crowns due to the misconduct of their own supporters during the match.

Slavia president Jaroslav Tvrdík had already stated before the decision that the club would accept the punishment and would not appeal.

“We are prepared to accept the punishment with humility. We will not appeal,” Tvrdík said in reference to the behaviour of part of the Tribuna Sever stand.

At the same time, the Slavia boss expressed deep disappointment over the events during the derby. He said his vision of a modern top club with a positive atmosphere in the stadium had been severely damaged by the disturbances. He also criticised the violent behaviour of certain supporters, accusing them of misusing football for their own self-promotion. During the programme TIKI-TAKA on Oneplay Sport, Tvrdík also announced that there would be no title celebrations even if Slavia were to successfully defend the championship.

Slavia regrets impact of punishment on tens of thousands of fans

SK Slavia Praha has expressed regret over the impact of the punishment on tens of thousands of ordinary and fair-supporting fans who had nothing to do with the entire situation. “We are aware that the closure of the stadium affects those fans who had already purchased tickets, planned to attend the match with family or friends, and were looking forward to a shared experience at the Fortuna Arena. This makes the whole situation even more regrettable for us,” the club said in a statement published on its website.

Fans who purchased tickets for the affected matches, as well as season-ticket holders, will receive detailed information from the club shortly regarding refunds and the next steps. Detailed organisational instructions, schedules and all important information will be published gradually via the official website and social media channels of SK Slavia Praha.
