A new dog playground in Prague 7 is part of a broader redevelopment of the area, where the city has been working for some time to improve safety and quality of life for local residents. The opening of the facility is currently planned for the end of 2026.
Prague City Council has approved the tender for the construction of a new dog playground in Holešovice. The facility is to be built between Na Maninách and Jateční streets in Prague 7 and will in future serve both for free running and dog training.
A modern dog area with various agility and training elements is planned. These include tunnels, balance obstacles, sloped walls and slalom tracks for dog training. The project will also include new green spaces, fences, seating areas and public toilets.
According to the city, the project is part of a broader upgrade of the surroundings around Tusarova Street.
“The construction of the new dog playground is part of a broader transformation and improvement of the area around Tusarova Street. Our goal is the long-term calming of this area and an improvement in the quality of life of local residents,” said Prague Deputy Mayor Alexandra Udženija.
The city also pointed out that the project builds on measures already implemented in the surrounding area. These include adjustments to public spaces as well as the expansion of social and security-related services.
According to the city administration, the planned redevelopment is intended to help better balance the needs of residents with social support services, while also creating greater safety and calm in the area. In particular, there have repeatedly been problems in the past around facilities operated by the The Salvation Army.
The final cost of the project and the construction company selected are expected to be confirmed after the tender process is completed. At present, the new dog playground is expected to open at the end of 2026.
