The automotive industry in the Czech Republic remains on a growth trajectory. In the first four months of 2026, more than 525,000 passenger cars were produced in the country – significantly more than in the same period last year. The production of buses and motorcycles also increased noticeably.

From January to the end of April, domestic manufacturers produced a total of 525,293 passenger cars. This corresponds to an increase of seven per cent compared to the same period last year. The mark of half a million vehicles produced was therefore exceeded already in April – one month earlier than last year.

The share of electrified vehicles continues to grow particularly strongly. Overall, 41 per cent of total passenger car production consisted of hybrid, plug-in hybrid or fully electric vehicles. A total of 87,115 battery-electric vehicles (BEV), 17,933 plug-in hybrids (PHEV) and 110,749 hybrid vehicles (HEV) were produced.

The country’s largest domestic car manufacturer, Škoda Auto, produced a total of 353,462 vehicles at its Czech plants in the first four months of the year. This represents an increase of 11.8 per cent. The company’s production therefore remains at more than 4,000 vehicles per day.

Of these, 90,035 vehicles were models with external charging capability, namely fully electric cars and plug-in hybrids. Overall, Škoda Auto produced 77,889 battery-electric vehicles and 12,146 plug-in hybrids.

Production at the Hyundai Motor Manufacturing Czech plant in Nošovice, on the other hand, declined. Between January and April, a total of 89,400 vehicles were produced there – a decrease of 8.2 per cent compared to last year. The decline affected all electrified drivetrain categories. Nevertheless, more than 48.5 per cent of the vehicles produced still featured an electrified drivetrain. A total of 9,226 fully electric cars, 5,787 plug-in hybrids and 28,318 hybrid vehicles were produced.

Production at Toyota Motor Manufacturing Czech Republic in Kolín once again developed positively. In the first four months, 82,431 vehicles rolled off the production line there, corresponding to an increase of 6.5 per cent. All vehicles produced there were hybrid models.

Bus production in the Czech Republic also recorded growth. A total of 1,892 buses were produced by the end of April – 10.4 per cent more than in the same period last year. Manufacturer SOR Libchavy in particular recorded a sharp increase. A total of 216 buses were produced there, corresponding to an increase of almost 360 per cent.

The Czech Republic’s largest bus manufacturer, Iveco Czech Republic in Vysoké Mýto, produced 1,668 buses during the same period, slightly above last year’s level. In the field of electrified buses, a total of 86 battery-electric vehicles were produced between January and April – 60 at Iveco Czech Republic and 26 at SOR Libchavy. In addition, Iveco produced 166 hybrid buses.

The traditional motorcycle manufacturer Jawa Moto also recorded a significant increase. In the first four months of the year, the company produced a total of 687 motorcycles. This corresponds to an increase of 188.7 per cent, or 449 more vehicles than in the same period last year. The brand expects further growth in the coming months.
