From July 2026, Central Bohemia and South Bohemia will become more closely connected through public transport. By linking the PID and IDESKA fare systems, passengers will benefit from new direct connections and expanded ticket options across regional boundaries.

From 1 July 2026, public transport links between the Středočeský kraj (Central Bohemian Region) and the Jihočeský kraj (South Bohemian Region) will be significantly expanded. The move is based on an agreement between the two regions, linking the Prague and Central Bohemian transport system PID with the new South Bohemian integrated transport system IDESKA.

For passengers, this means greater flexibility when travelling between the two regions. With a PID ticket, onward travel will in future be possible, for example, to Tábor, Planá nad Lužnicí and Orlík nad Vltavou. Conversely, travellers using an IDESKA ticket will be able to reach destinations such as Benešov, Sedlčany, Vlašim and Příbram.

The integrated tickets will also be valid on selected rail services between Prague, Tábor and České Budějovice. Between Benešov and Planá nad Lužnicí, the validity areas of both fare systems overlap, allowing passengers to choose between the two offers or combine them.

According to the authorities, linking the two systems is intended to simplify public transport across administrative boundaries. Travellers will benefit from a more unified fare structure, easier navigation and additional travel options with a single ticket.

Expansion Also in Bus Transport

The changes will also benefit regional bus services. The PID fare system will in future be recognised on numerous routes in the Tábor and Písek regions. At the same time, the IDESKA fare will be valid on selected PID routes in the Benešov, Vlašim and Příbram areas. With a PID ticket, journeys to Písek and Strakonice will also become possible.

Alongside the fare integration, several bus routes will be adjusted. One of the most important changes concerns the current Route 401 between Prague and Tábor. It will be replaced by the new Route 408, which will operate via Sedlec-Prčice, providing additional municipalities with a direct connection to the Czech capital.

Combined Tickets Available

For passengers wishing to use both fare systems, a combined ticket option will be introduced. These so-called combination fares can be purchased directly from bus drivers or train staff and allow seamless travel across the boundaries of the two regions.

With the integration of PID and IDESKA, the Central Bohemian and South Bohemian Regions are taking another step towards a more integrated and user-friendly public transport network in the Czech Republic.
