For the first time, a hotel project from the Czech Republic has made it onto the prestigious Prix Versailles hotel list. The Sir Prague hotel was recognised for its successful combination of historic architecture and modern design.
Prague's Sir Prague hotel is among the 16 most beautiful hotels in the world. This was the conclusion reached by the international jury of the Prix Versailles, which published this year's selection in the Hotels category in mid-May. Sir Prague is therefore the first hotel from the Czech Republic to be included on the prestigious list in this category.
The Prix Versailles is one of the most prestigious international awards for architecture and design. The organisation was established in cooperation with UNESCO and has recognised outstanding projects in the fields of architecture, design and urban development since 2015. Throughout the year, the jury publishes selection lists across various categories.

A total of 16 hotels from different regions of the world were included in this year's hotel selection. These comprise both new developments and extensively restored historic buildings. Among the criteria assessed are architectural quality, innovation and integration into the surrounding urban and cultural environment.
Historic Building with Modern Design Impresses International Jury
Particular attention was given to the extensive restoration of the historic building housing Sir Prague Hotel. The hotel is located in a listed Neo-Renaissance building dating from 1884, situated close to the National Theatre and the Dancing House. During the renovation, numerous original features were preserved and carefully restored, including the stone façades, wrought-iron railings, parquet floors and staircases.

At the same time, the building received a contemporary design interpretation. The interior design was created by Linda Boronkay, who drew inspiration in part from the tradition of Czech Cubism. Historic details were combined with contemporary elements without altering the building's original character.
The result is a collection of individually designed rooms and suites, each with its own distinctive character. The hotel welcomed its first guests in spring 2025. In addition to the accommodation, several communal spaces are available to visitors and event organisers, including the Library, the Seven North restaurant and, during the summer months, the Courtyard Bar.

With its inclusion in this year's Prix Versailles selection, Sir Prague joins an exclusive group of hotel projects that, in the jury's view, set global standards in architecture, design and guest experience.
