The security situation around the Anděl transport hub was the focus of a meeting between Prague 5 and representatives of the state and municipal police. Additional measures were agreed to further strengthen public safety in the affected area.
During a meeting between representatives of Prague 5 and the police and municipal police, the current security situation in the Anděl area and its surroundings was discussed. Incidents involving homeless and drug-dependent individuals occur repeatedly around Anděl metro station. Only around two weeks ago, police had to intervene in an incident outside the local shopping centre involving a man under the influence of cocaine who posed a danger to those around him.
In future, in addition to extra patrols, police dog units will also be deployed more extensively. According to those involved, these measures are intended both to have a preventive effect and to enable a faster response to potential security incidents.

“We discussed the security situation in Prague 5, including the Anděl area and its surroundings, and asked the police for an even stronger presence. At the same time, it should be noted that there are already more police patrols operating in this locality than in many other parts of the capital,” said the Mayor of Prague 5, Lukáš Herold.
A key part of the discussions focused on the activities of the so-called Anděl Team. This is a specialised group of criminal investigators dedicated to the long-term and targeted fight against street crime, drug-related crime and violent crime in the area. The officers have detailed knowledge of local conditions and work permanently in the affected locality.
Mayor Herold expressly praised the work of the team. The specialised unit is expected to continue its activities, with its deployment being continuously assessed and adjusted in line with current developments.
David Körner, Head of the Prague II Police Directorate, emphasised that the police pay special and ongoing attention to the Anděl area. This is done through both uniformed patrols and criminal police officers. “We will continue to monitor developments in the security situation closely and adjust the measures taken if necessary,” he said. Cooperation with the Prague 5 district administration will also continue.
