Dear Watson Pub Brings Victorian London to Prague’s Karlín District

A touch of Victorian London has found its way to Prague’s Karlín district. Inspired by the world of Sherlock Holmes, Dear Watson Pub combines traditional British pub culture and classic comfort food in a setting that stands out in the neighbourhood’s gastronomic scene.

Prague’s Karlín district gained a new addition to its growing food and pub scene late last summer. Inspired by the world of Sherlock Holmes, Dear Watson combines the atmosphere of a traditional British pub with themed interiors, classic pub dishes and a focus on warm hospitality. Located on Křižíkova Street in the heart of Karlín, the pub has quickly attracted both Czech locals and expats looking for something different.

From the moment guests enter the pub, they are greeted by references to Baker Street, detective stories and Victorian-era Britain throughout the interior, creating an environment that aims to transport visitors from Prague to the streets of London. According to Andrea Borea, an Italian entrepreneur and also the owner of Sherlock Public House in Benevento (ITA), Dear Watson was born from his passion for British pub culture and the world of Sherlock Holmes, with the idea of creating a concept that could feel at home not only in Prague but potentially in other European cities too. “I chose Karlín because it felt like the right neighbourhood to start: modern, international and full of locals, expats and travellers, exactly the kind of place where a Sherlock-inspired pub could become a meeting point for good food, beer and events,” Andrea told Prague Daily News.

British classics and comfort food

The food menu draws heavily on British pub traditions while also incorporating international influences. Among the signature dishes are the Dear Watson Burger, fish and chips, Scotch eggs, pies and other comfort-food favourites. The venue also offers weekday lunch specials and a selection of homemade lemonades alongside its beer menu.

Beer remains a central part of the concept. Guinness features prominently alongside other draft beer options such as Mustang and Kilkenny.
