The award-winning mobile app is being expanded with ten new levels, leaderboards and achievements. The aim is to bring the Czech capital to players in an engaging and interactive way.

The successful mobile app Playing Prague is receiving a major expansion. Following more than 102,000 downloads and several awards, the game, developed by Prague City Tourism and the Czech game studio Charles Games, is gaining ten new levels. In addition, leaderboards and an achievement system are being introduced, rewarding players for completing selected challenges.

The new game content takes players to further well-known landmarks and lesser-known locations across Prague. These include the Prague Planetarium, Prague Castle, the Old Wastewater Treatment Plant in Bubeneč, the Klementinum, the Prague Exhibition Grounds (Výstaviště Praha), the Prague Congress Centre, the Clam-Gallas Palace and the paternoster lift in the New Town Hall. Cultural venues such as the House at the Stone Bell and buildings belonging to the Prague City Gallery are also part of the expansion.

According to Prague City Councillor Tomáš Slabihoudek, the new levels are intended to highlight not only the city's famous landmarks but also attractions beyond the historic centre. This is intended to showcase Prague's diverse cultural offering more effectively.

Alongside the new locations, players will also encounter prominent figures from Prague's and the Czech Republic's history. These include the architect Kilián Ignác Dientzenhofer, the poet Jaroslav Seifert, the composer Josef Mysliveček, the opera singer Ema Destinnová, and the artists Stanislav Libenský and Jaroslava Brychtová.

Jana Adamcová, Deputy Chair of the Board at Prague City Tourism, described the game as a digital tribute to the city and its residents. She said that not only the landmarks themselves, but above all the stories of the people behind them, should bring Prague to life for players.

The expansion has once again been developed by the Czech game studio Charles Games, which also created the original version. According to CEO Lukáš Kolek, the goal from the very beginning was to make Playing Prague not just a virtual city tour, but a fully fledged game. The new leaderboards and achievements are intended to provide additional incentives for players to return regularly.

Paid expansion, base game remains free

The new content is being offered as paid expansions. A package containing five new levels costs CZK 99. The revenue will be invested in the further development of the project. The base version of the app will remain free of charge.

Playing Prague is available for Android and iOS devices and is also expected to be released on the Steam platform in the future. In addition to Czech, the game supports English, German, French, Spanish, Italian, Polish, Dutch, Korean and Japanese.
