Bicycle storage in selected bike towers across Central Bohemia can now be paid for directly via the PID Lítačka app. The new service is designed to make combining cycling with public transport easier and more convenient.

Commuters and day-trippers in Central Bohemia can now pay for bicycle storage in selected bike towers directly through the PID Lítačka app. Anyone with a valid long-term PID travel pass for the relevant fare zone can store their bicycle there free of charge for up to 24 hours.

Seven bike towers in six towns

Payment via PID Lítačka is currently available at seven bike towers in six towns across the Central Bohemian Region:

  • Lysá nad Labem: two bike towers, 5 Czech crowns each

  • Poděbrady: 10 Czech crowns

  • Čelákovice: 5 Czech crowns

  • Kolín: 10 Czech crowns

  • Beroun: 5 Czech crowns

  • Milovice: 5 Czech crowns

The fees are set by the respective municipalities and are not part of the PID fare system.

After storing the bicycle, a QR code is issued, which can be scanned in the app. Payment is then processed or – for holders of the relevant travel pass – free bicycle storage is activated automatically.

“The integration of the bike towers with PID Lítačka shows how we are continuing to develop public transport – from tickets to bicycle storage, everything in one place and without unnecessary intermediate steps,” says Luboš Kratochvíl, Chairman of the Board of Operátor ICT, the company responsible for developing the app.

In addition to payment, the app also provides information on the locations and occupancy of the bike towers, as well as an overview of previous payments. With the new service, the operators aim to encourage the combination of cycling and public transport, making daily journeys to the railway station easier, particularly for commuters.
