Prague Expands Network of Digital Information Displays at Stops – Another 40 to Be Added by the End of 2026

Passengers in Prague will soon have access to real-time public transport information at even more stops. During the spring and early summer of this year, digital departure displays were installed at 31 additional major tram and bus stops across Prague. A further 40 information displays are due to be added by the end of 2026.

The electronic displays show current departure times, delays, diversions, service disruptions and other important information directly at the stop. Particularly useful at this time of year: air-conditioned trams can be identified by a snowflake symbol on the digital displays. At the same time, ROPID is currently testing a revised information layout at selected stops based on feedback from passengers.

“A high-quality public transport system consists not only of vehicles and infrastructure, but also of easily accessible and reliable information. The digital departure displays help passengers plan their journeys more effectively and respond more quickly to service disruptions,” said Prague Deputy Mayor for Transport Jaromír Beránek.

Among the stops equipped with new digital information displays in recent months are Palmovka, Malostranská, Karlovo náměstí and several stops along the new route across the Dvorecký Bridge.

Another 40 Locations Planned

By the end of 2026, additional digital departure displays are due to be installed at tram stops including Kobylisy, Florenc, Biskupcova, Lazarská, Ortenovo náměstí, Svatoplukova and Strossmayerovo náměstí. Planned bus stop locations include Nové náměstí, Písečná, Podhajská pole, IKEM and Poliklinika Modřany.

At less busy stops, the city also plans to install compact information displays integrated directly into the shelters.

E-Ink Displays to Be Tested

From August 2026, Prague plans to begin testing electronic E-Ink displays at selected stops for the first time. In addition to live departure information, these will also display timetables and other information digitally.

There are currently almost 200 digital departure displays in operation across Prague's public transport stops. By 2030, that number is expected to increase to more than 550.

Real-Time Data via Golemio

The information displayed is provided by the city's Golemio data platform, which supplies real-time public transport data. This allows passengers to see not only scheduled departure times but also current delays, service disruptions and diversions.

Golemio data is also used by the PID Lítačka app and other services such as Google Maps and Mapy.com. In addition, live public transport information is displayed in shopping centres, schools and other public buildings.
