Prague Reintroduces Discounted Monthly Pass for Social Assistance Recipients

Since 1 August, social assistance recipients in Prague can once again buy a discounted monthly public transport pass for 165 crowns, available online only.

People who receive a subsistence component as part of state social assistance can once again use discounted public transport in Prague. Since 1 August 2026, eligible passengers have been able to purchase a monthly pass for 165 crowns.

The reintroduction of the discounted fare was approved by Prague City Council. Passengers must first be added to a new fare category within the Prague Integrated Transport system, PID. Applications can only be submitted through the PID Lítačka online shop. Both the application and its processing are carried out entirely electronically.

To be added to the fare category, applicants need electronic confirmation from the Czech Labour Office that they receive state social assistance. The document must show that a subsistence component has been granted.

The confirmation is available through the government’s JENDA online system and must be uploaded electronically to the PID Lítačka online shop. The personal details contained in the document must match the information registered in the respective PID Lítačka account.

Confirmation Is Valid for 35 Days

Proof of entitlement to the benefit is valid for 35 days from the date of issue. To purchase the monthly pass at the discounted price of 165 crowns, the confirmation must remain valid throughout the entire validity period of the monthly pass.

Application Must Be Submitted Before Purchase

Passengers must apply to be added to the new fare category before purchasing the monthly pass. The discount applies exclusively to newly purchased monthly passes and cannot be applied retrospectively to tickets that have already been purchased.
