Prague Police Check Hundreds of Drivers and Passers-by
Numerous offences were detected during two large-scale operations – three foreign nationals face deportation over illegal employment

During two parallel police operations in Prague, officers checked hundreds of people and vehicles. They detected numerous offences and initiated deportation proceedings against three foreign nationals.
During two parallel police operations in Prague on Wednesday, officers checked hundreds of people and vehicles. The operations focused on drivers working for transport services, public order, and street and drug-related crime.
The first operation involved officers from the Foreign Police and Traffic Police, employees of the Prague Labour Inspectorate, the Customs Administration and Prague City Hall, as well as members of the Municipal Police’s Taxi Team. The checks focused particularly on drivers working for transport companies. Officers checked whether they had the necessary permits to carry out their work and valid documents authorising them to reside in the Czech Republic.

In 24 cases, fines totalling almost CZK 66,000 were imposed on the spot. A further 28 offences were referred to the relevant administrative authorities. In addition, three foreign nationals were arrested for illegal employment. Deportation proceedings were initiated against them.
Second Operation Targets Street and Drug-Related Crime
During the second operation, officers from Prague Police Directorate II focused on street and drug-related crime as well as compliance with public-order regulations. Checks were also carried out to determine whether shops and catering establishments were complying with the ban on selling alcohol to people under the age of 18. As part of the operation, police officers also inspected hostels and occupied buildings. They also searched for missing and wanted persons and checked motorists for alcohol and drug use.
The operation, conducted under the name “Prostor”, took place in several Prague districts, including Anděl, Smíchov and Zličín. Further checks were carried out along the Hořejší nábřeží and Rašínovo nábřeží riverside promenades, at Charles Square and in the surrounding areas. Within a few hours, officers checked more than 440 people, over 270 vehicles and 19 businesses. They detected a total of 45 traffic and public-order offences and imposed on-the-spot fines totalling CZK 30,000.
A further 51 offences were referred to the relevant administrative authorities. Police also stopped a driver without a valid driving licence and arrested a motorist under the influence of alcohol.
According to the police, further operations of this kind are planned over the remainder of the year.
