Heritage Braai Day Brings South African Barbecue Culture to Prague in Mid-September

The South African Heritage Braai Day will be celebrated at Rohan Beergarden in Prague 8 in mid-September. Visitors can look forward to a communal barbecue with traditional specialities, music and a family programme.

On Saturday, 19 September, Rohan Beergarden in Prague 8 will become a meeting place for enthusiasts of South African culture. Heritage Braai Day organized by Saffa Maso will focus on the traditional South African way of grilling.

In South Africa, braai is much more than simply cooking meat over an open fire. The tradition is regarded as a social ritual that brings families and friends together to eat and spend time with one another.

Several grills will be available at the venue. Visitors can bring their own food and grill it themselves. For an additional fee, an experienced grill master can also prepare the food upon request.

In addition to a basic admission ticket, a ticket with a braai package is also available. It includes 500 grams of traditional South African boerewors sausage (100% beef) and a portion of biltong (150 grams). Typical products such as Nando’s sauces, chutney and special braai spices will also be available to buy at the venue.

Visitors are not permitted to bring their own drinks. A wide selection of alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages will be available from Rohan Beergarden. Guests must, however, bring their own plates and cutlery. Alternatively, environmentally friendly disposable tableware may be used.

Families are also well catered for. A bouncy castle, a playground and a special braai master will be available for children. Free entry for children under the age of twelve.

Heritage Braai Day will take place on Saturday, 19 September 2026, from 12 noon until midnight at Rohan Beergarden in Prague 8. Tickets are available in advance at smsticket.
