Prague 1 Opens New Dog Agility Park

Prague 1 will open a new dog agility park near Lannova Park on Wednesday. The approximately 92-metre course offers several obstacles for exercise and training.

The Prague 1 district will open a new dog agility park on the Ludvík Svoboda Embankment on Wednesday, 16 September, at 5 pm. At the opening, visitors will be able to try out the various obstacles with their dogs.

The new dog park is located next to the Czech Ministry of Transport’s road safety training ground, not far from Lannova Park. It is intended to provide dog owners in Prague city centre with additional opportunities for exercise, training and shared activities with their four-legged companions.

The facility includes a recommended course approximately 92 metres long. Its equipment comprises an A-frame, a tunnel, a slalom and two jumping obstacles. An information board explains how to use each element safely and correctly.

“Available space in the centre of Prague is very limited. We therefore want to make use of every suitable location in a way that benefits local residents,” said Deputy Mayor Kateřina Klasnová, who is responsible for the environment. She explained that the site had been chosen because many people already walk their dogs there and there was corresponding demand.

Klasnová emphasised that the new facility offers more than an ordinary off-lead area. Dog owners will be able to work actively with their animals and practise various exercises there.

The park was designed by experienced dog trainer Barbora Opltová. At the opening, she will demonstrate how to use the obstacles safely and correctly. Visitors will then be able to try out the individual elements with their dogs and receive advice on basic training methods.

Following the official opening, the agility park will remain open to the public. Prague 1’s Environmental Department is responsible for managing the facility.
