Construction Begins on New P+R Car Park in Prague-Zličín

Construction of a new multi-storey P+R car park has officially begun in Prague-Zličín. The facility is intended to make it easier for commuters from areas west of Prague to switch from their cars to the metro or bus.

Construction of the Na Radosti P+R car park in Prague’s Zličín district was officially launched with a symbolic foundation stone ceremony. The five-storey building will provide 462 parking spaces. A further 134 spaces will be created in an additional outdoor area, providing room for up to 596 vehicles in total.

The car park is being built on the site of the Zličín depot on Na Radosti Street. It is within walking distance of Zličín metro station. New stops for city and regional bus services are also due to be created nearby.

“The new car park in Zličín, which will operate as a P+R facility, provides another reason not to drive all the way into the city centre,” said Prague Deputy Mayor for Transport Jaromír Beránek. The existing P+R car parks in western Prague are often already completely full early in the morning. In future, an additional 596 commuters will be able to leave their vehicles on the outskirts of the city and continue their journeys by metro without delay.

Of the 596 parking spaces, ten are intended for people with reduced mobility. Eight spaces will be reserved for families with children. In addition, eleven spaces with charging stations will be provided for electric vehicles.

The contract for the construction was awarded to the P+R DEPO Zličín – BAK & MTS consortium. It submitted the most economically advantageous bid in the tendering process, with a price of CZK 619,498,137.01.

Construction work is expected to take 18 months following the handover of the building site. A further three months are planned for final approval. According to current plans, the Na Radosti P+R car park is due to open to the public in mid-2028.

The City of Prague expects the new facility to reduce traffic on surrounding roads and improve the traffic situation in the wider city centre. It is also intended to reduce emissions and traffic noise.
