The comeback of a Prague landmark is drawing closer: the Průmyslový palác is set to reopen its doors in 2026. After years of renovation, the major project is entering its final phase.

For the Prague Exhibition Grounds in Holešovice, 2025 was marked by investment, structural renewal and growing visitor interest. At the same time, preparations for the reopening of the Průmyslový palác – one of the most distinctive buildings on the site – were in full swing.

According to Tomáš Hübl, Chairman of the Board of the joint-stock company Výstaviště Praha, 2025 was not only a successful year in terms of visitor numbers, but also, in a sense, the final year of waiting for the return of the Průmyslový palác (Industrial Palace). The forthcoming reopening is set to have a decisive impact on 2026.

To mark the reopening, guided tours for the general public are planned for September. Among the first events scheduled to take place, at least in part, in the building is the Prague International Design Festival – Designblok 2026 at the beginning of October.

Status of construction works at the Průmyslový palác

In 2025, reconstruction of the historic building continued according to an adjusted timetable. Key stages of construction were completed across the various sections of the complex.

Left wing: The final floor coverings have been completed; work is currently under way on the wooden ceiling cladding and electrical installations. Technical rooms are being fitted out, and the underfloor heating system is already in operation.

Central hall: Here too, the final flooring has been completed. Stucco work is ongoing, the glass windows have been finished, and technical rooms are being fitted out in the corner towers.

Right wing: The main structural works – from subfloors to installation ducts – have been completed, as have the fittings on the second floor. The focus is now on the further installation of technical systems and sanitary facilities.

Winter conditions temporarily slowed work on the façade and roof. Regardless of this, landscaping works around the building are continuing.

The Prague Exhibition Grounds recorded a visitor increase of more than 17 per cent

In 2025, the Prague Exhibition Grounds recorded a significant rise in visitor numbers. A total of 2.97 million visits were registered. Compared with 2024, this represents an increase of 17.7 per cent. This underlines the site’s growing importance as one of the leading centres for cultural and social events in the Czech capital.

With the reopening of the Průmyslový palác, the Prague Exhibition Grounds aims to embark on a new era in 2026, after almost two decades without its architectural centrepiece.
