Commuters travelling from the direction of Kladno and Kralupy nad Vltavou will have to prepare for changes to rail services from the beginning of June. Due to the ongoing modernisation of Prague’s Masaryk Railway Station, several suburban train lines will be temporarily shortened.
As part of the ongoing modernisation of Prague’s Masaryk Railway Station, restrictions to rail traffic in the Czech capital will come into effect from 1 June. Several suburban and express train lines operated by České dráhy, which normally run via the Negrelli Viaduct to Masaryk Railway Station, will be affected.
According to the railway company, lines from the direction of Kladno and Kralupy nad Vltavou will in future begin or terminate already at Praha-Bubny station. The measures are connected to a further construction phase of the modernisation of Prague’s second-busiest railway station being carried out by Správa železnic.

Among the services affected by the changes are the S4, S5 and S54 lines, as well as the R24 and R45 express train connections. The restrictions are initially expected to remain in place until the end of the current timetable period, although according to the railway company most of the changes will also remain in effect next year.
The R24 and R45 express train services between Prague and Kladno will additionally stop at Praha-Výstaviště in both directions until the end of the year.
There will also be partial changes to individual connections on the R42 line between Prague, Poděbrady and Kolín. Some trains will no longer continue to Masaryk Railway Station, but will instead terminate or begin at Praha-Vysočany. According to the railway company, the reason is the station’s limited capacity during peak traffic hours.

No replacement bus service is planned during the construction works. Instead, passengers can use Prague’s public transport system. In particular, the Metro Line C between Vltavská and the Main Railway Station, as well as Metro Line B between Florenc and Masaryk Railway Station, are being recommended.
The updated timetables are already available in the online journey planners, in the “Můj vlak” app, and on the České dráhy website.
