The months-long closure of the tram line to Prague Castle will end earlier than planned. However, the diversion towards the city centre will remain in place for another week.
After more than three months of construction, the tram line between Chotkovy sady and Brusnice will partially reopen earlier than planned. As the Prague Public Transit Company (DPP) announced, tram services will return directly to Prague Castle from Saturday, 11 July – one week earlier than originally scheduled.

The line has been closed since 21 March due to extensive track renewal works. During the construction period, tram services were diverted, while several phases of the works also caused restrictions for road traffic throughout the area.
The early reopening will initially benefit tram lines 22 and 23, as well as, in part, the historic tram lines 41 and 42, which will resume operating on their regular route to Prague Castle.

However, the project has not yet been fully completed. In the direction of the city centre, trams will continue to use the diversion route via Hradčanská until 18 July. Only after that will services resume their regular route in both directions.
