Motorway vignette prices are not expected to increase next year. Through a legislative amendment, the government aims to abolish the automatic adjustment of vignette fees.
The Czech government has approved a draft amendment prepared by the Ministry of Transport that would abolish the automatic annual adjustment of motorway vignette prices. The aim is to stabilise costs for motorists. The legislation will now be debated in the Chamber of Deputies and is expected to come into force on 1 January 2027.
If Parliament approves the proposal, the prices of electronic motorway vignettes will remain at their current level in 2027. The annual vignette would continue to cost CZK 2,570, the 30-day vignette CZK 480, the 10-day vignette CZK 300, and the one-day vignette CZK 230.

Transport Minister Ivan Bednárik justified the move by pointing to the significant price increases of recent years. Since 2023, the price of the annual vignette has risen by CZK 1,070, or more than 70 per cent. As a result, the Czech Republic has moved closer to Austria in terms of pricing, despite the neighbouring country having a more extensive motorway network and greater purchasing power.
The planned amendment also maintains the existing discounts for low-emission vehicles. These include electric vehicles, hydrogen-powered vehicles, plug-in hybrids, as well as vehicles powered by CNG or LNG. According to the Ministry of Transport, the proposal reflects comments received during the legislative process as well as feedback from the European Commission regarding the National Recovery Plan.
At the same time, a separate draft amendment is currently being considered by the Senate. It would change the validity of the one-day vignette so that it is no longer tied to a calendar day. Instead, it would be valid for a full 24 hours from the time of purchase. The State Fund for Transport Infrastructure and CENDIS, the operator of the electronic vignette system, are already preparing the necessary technical changes.
The Ministry of Transport also points out that the official online shop for electronic motorway vignettes is now available exclusively via the website edalnice.gov.cz. By switching to the unified government domain gov(.)cz motorists should be able to identify the official provider more easily and be better protected against fraudulent websites that charge additional intermediary fees.
