With the "Korzo Dejvická" vision, Prague 6 aims to fundamentally transform one of the district's most important streets. More greenery, a higher quality public space and a vibrant urban boulevard are at the heart of the project.
Prague 6 has unveiled a shared vision for the future development of Dejvická Street. The framework approved by the district council will serve as the basis for a future concept study and prepare the transformation of one of the most important streets in Dejvice.
The aim is to gradually transform Dejvická into an attractive, safe and lively public space with more greenery. In future, the street is intended to provide a better connection between Vítězné náměstí and Hradčanská, while serving more effectively as a place for people to spend time, shop and meet, benefiting residents, visitors, businesses and institutions in the district.
Dejvická is one of the principal urban thoroughfares in Prague 6. It is home to the Dejvice Campus, public institutions, cultural venues, shops and major transport hubs. Owing to its width and central location, the district believes the street has the potential to become not only a transport corridor but also a representative urban boulevard.

At present, however, this potential is not being fully realised. According to the local authority, the main issues include a large number of parked cars, insufficient greenery, inconsistent paving and surface materials, a lack of places to spend time, and limited comfort for pedestrians.
"Dejvická has all the prerequisites to become a genuine urban street – a place where people enjoy walking, shopping, sitting outdoors, meeting neighbours, and where the public space reflects the importance of the location as a whole," said Prague 6 Mayor Jakub Stárek.
The "Korzo Dejvická" vision identifies seven key themes that will be developed further in the forthcoming concept study. These include strengthening the street's historic identity, developing Dejvická as a commercial and social avenue, increasing the number of trees and green spaces, improving safety and comfort for pedestrians, finding solutions for deliveries and parking, expanding cycling infrastructure, and improving connections to public transport.
A key focus of the next planning phase is the addition of trees and other vegetation. According to a public survey, the lack of greenery is one of the street's biggest shortcomings. The concept study will therefore examine how new trees can be planted and the microclimate improved despite the area's dense underground infrastructure.
At the same time, the study will develop a balanced approach to traffic, parking and delivery access. As Dejvická is not only a residential area but also an important centre for employment, services and public institutions, the needs of residents, businesses, visitors and local institutions will all be taken into account.
