UB40 Coming to Prague in March next year: A Reggae Legend Live at Forum Karlín

A group of young friends from Birmingham who rose to become the world’s most successful reggae band

The British cult band UB40 is coming to Prague! In mid-March, they will perform their world-famous reggae and pop hits at Forum Karlín. Fans can look forward to an evening full of timeless classics and a charismatic live show.

The British reggae legends UB40, known for hits such as Red Red Wine and (I Can’t Help) Falling in Love With You, are returning to Prague! On 13 March 2026, they will perform at Forum Karlín, playing their unmistakable reggae and pop melodies that have connected fans worldwide for over four decades. With their charismatic sound and positive energy, the band promises an evening of iconic songs and timeless vibes.

The story of UB40 reads like a success story: a group of young friends from Birmingham who, despite their humble beginnings, rose to become the world’s most successful reggae band, selling over 100 million records and spending more than eleven years in the UK album charts. But the journey was no easy ride. In the early days, the musicians met in bars and clubs in Moseley, with some having to get by on less than eight pounds of unemployment benefit per week. For school leavers like Robin Campbell, there were only two options: factory work or wandering aimlessly while hoping for better times.

Everything changed in the summer of 1978: the core of UB40 began rehearsing in a basement. Robin Campbell’s younger brother Ali, Earl Falconer, Brian Travers, and James Brown knew each other from the Moseley School of Art, while Norman Hassan had been friends with the Campbells since primary school. Initially, the group saw themselves as an instrumental “jazz-dub-reggae” band. But when Robin returned and later Michael Virtue and Astro – who had honed his craft with the Birmingham sound system Duke Alloy – joined, they had already developed a clear political direction and a distinct identity that set them apart from the many punk and Two-Tone bands of the time.

They deliberately chose their name from an unemployment benefit form – a statement of their political beliefs, which they not only knew second-hand but had lived through themselves at demonstrations against the National Front or at Rock Against Racism rallies.

Tickets for the concert on 13 March 2026 at Forum Karlín are available from 1,300 CZK (plus booking fees). The official pre-sale starts on 31 October 2025 at 10:00 via Ticketmaster and Ticketportal.
