Škoda Auto Starts Production of the New Peaq in Mladá Boleslav

Škoda Auto has started series production of the new electric Peaq SUV at its main plant in Mladá Boleslav. The brand’s largest model is being built alongside the Elroq, Enyaq and Octavia on a flexible production line.

Škoda Auto has started series production of the new Škoda Peaq at its main plant in Mladá Boleslav. The brand’s new electric flagship is being built on the same production line as the fully electric Elroq and Enyaq models and the Octavia with a combustion engine.

The flexible production system is intended to ensure high efficiency and enable the car manufacturer to respond quickly to changes in customer demand. According to the company, the Peaq has attracted considerable interest since its market launch in June. Almost 8,500 orders had been received by the end of July.

“The new Škoda Peaq represents the pinnacle of our model range in terms of comfort, spaciousness and technology,” said Andreas Dick, Škoda Auto Board Member for Production and Logistics.

Production also meets the highest standards of quality, efficiency and flexibility. The fact that four models – three of them fully electric vehicles – are built on a single production line demonstrates the expertise and versatility of the team in Mladá Boleslav.

Production Flexibility at Two Plants

The Peaq is the fourth model currently being manufactured on the production line at Škoda Auto’s main plant. The line, which was originally designed for vehicles with combustion engines, has been extensively modernised in recent years so that fully electric models can also be produced there.

The Škoda Enyaq was the first electric vehicle to enter production on this line in 2020. The Škoda Elroq followed in January 2025, and the Peaq has now been added.

The three fully electric models are manufactured alongside the Octavia Estate with a combustion engine. Since May this year, the Octavia Estate has also been produced at the Kvasiny plant, where the Octavia hatchback also rolls off the production line. This allows Škoda Auto to flexibly adjust the production mix between the Mladá Boleslav and Kvasiny plants according to market demand and possible disruptions in global supply chains.

At the same time, additional capacity for electric vehicles has been created at the Mladá Boleslav plant. These accounted for almost 23 per cent of all vehicles produced at Škoda’s Czech plants in the first half of 2026.

Production Line Adapted for Škoda’s Largest Model

The Peaq is the largest vehicle Škoda Auto has produced since joining the Volkswagen Group. Integrating the model into the existing production line therefore required extensive technical modifications. Among other measures, new and larger production rails were installed to improve ergonomics and safety at the workstations. A new manipulator was also introduced for installing the third row of seats. The press shop, body shop and paint shop were also specifically modernised. This is intended to ensure a smooth flow of materials throughout the entire production process.

Like the Enyaq and Elroq, the Škoda Peaq is based on the MEB+ Modular Electric Drive Matrix. This allows synergies to be utilised in production with the two electric models already manufactured in Mladá Boleslav.

With a length of 4.87 metres and a wheelbase of almost three metres, the Peaq is Škoda’s largest and most spacious SUV. It is also the brand’s first model in the large SUV segment.

Škoda Expands Electric Range with Peaq and Epiq

In addition to the Peaq, the Czech car manufacturer has also unveiled the new Škoda Epiq. The compact electric crossover is intended as an entry-level model and is to be produced in Pamplona, Spain. Production will take place as part of the Volkswagen Group’s Brand Group Core “Electric Urban Car Family” project. With the Peaq and Epiq models, Škoda is significantly expanding its range of fully electric vehicles.
